exclusively learned that multiple requests for backup were made by the former navy seal who died at the cia annex and those requests were in fact denied. now, all of this information was obtained by fox news from sources who are on the ground that tragic day in benghazi. here is how this all played out. former navy seal tyrone woods was at the cia annex when heard that shots had in fact been fired at the consulate where ambassador chris stevens was along with his team. not once but twice woods and others at the annex requested from the higher ups permission to go and help those under attack. they were told both times to quote stand down and according to our sources woods and five other american heros ignored the orders and went to the consulate anyway and tracted those still in harm's way and searched for the ambassador but could not find him. the group later returned to the cia annex and requested for a third time military assistance and again were denied aboutthy administration. earlier today fox's jennifer griffin explained in detail how the heros could have in fact been saved. >> report

military forces were not deployed during the deadly attack. last night on fox, the father of a slain navy seal demanded answers about yesy his son's repeated calls for help were denied. senator mccain is among those requesting release of surveillance material. we have more now, to keep us updated. jennifer, what's the latest? >> reporter: the latest, it is correct, i have learned from a senior intelligence source there is a complete video, internal surveillance video at the consulate that show who is the attackers were, what they looked like, the u.s. government is in possession of that video. and it would shed some light on who it is that is behind the attack. what we have been reporting and we have a source that was present during the attack on the annex, the cia annex, about a half a mile-- the second location, away from the consulate, about a half a mile away, i'm told, on foot, about a mile, if you drive. our source is telling us that about 9:40 p.m., they placed their first radio contact from the annex, saying they were hearing gunfire and wanted permission to engage and to go to t

. for that, we've got emergency generators. we've got a navy ship that has some helicopters that can help to move assets around the state as well, and so we're going to be working with governor christie's office and local officials to identify what are those critical infrastructures, how can we get what's needed as quickly as possible. just a couple other things that we're concerned about. one is, as power starts coming back on, we want to make sure that people can also geto work. obviously there are a lot of folks in jersey who work in new york, in the city, and in other places where transportation may be hobbled. one of the things i mentioned to the governor is the possibility of usassets, military assets as well as taking inventory of assets from around the country that can be brought in so we can help people get to their work, and governor christie also mentioned the importance of schools. the sooner we can get our kids back into school, the sooner they're back into a routine, that obviously helps the families and helps the kids as well. so we're going to have a lot of work to do. i d
educational opportunities i joined the u.s. 80 -- navy and spend four years in the military and applied for the u.s. border patrol and i was blessed with a tremendous career, tremendous family. i ended up along the border as u.s. border patrol agents going through the ranks and started using what i felt was a talent i was blessed with, being able to infiltrate drug cartels, human smuggling cartels and did more undercover work than any federal agent in the history of the government's over a 30 year career and i am happy to share those experiences because they are unique because i was the only federal agent who experienced being smuggled from mexico to the interior of the united states, going through travels by myself in the back of the trunk of a car, things of that nature. it was quite dramatic but something i did with a lot of pride because i felt going after those seeking a better life in the united states i share those stories with you in my book the shadow catcher. >> there are many powerful moments you describe. i am wondering if you could share a couple of those with us. in partic
